What is acne scarring?

Even when the acne itself has gone it can leave behind scars, particularly in cases of severe acne where acne nodules and cysts have burst and damaged the tissues beneath the skin just like any wound. If the top layers of skin lower into the gap left by the cysts that were under the surface, the skin can look pitted, dimpled, and uneven.

The 3 main types of acne scars are:

  • boxcar scars which appear as oval or round depressions or craters in the skin
  • rolling scars which occur when scar tissue forms in bands under the skin creating a rolling and uneven appearance
  • ice pick scars which appear as small, deep holes in the skin’s surface

Acne scars can be frustrating and different types may respond better to different approaches, but treatments such as IPL acne treatments  and Dermapen skin rejuvenation treatments can really help with the appearance of acne scars and make them less noticeable.

Treatments for Acne scarring at The Cheshire Aesthetic Clinic

IPL Acne Treatments

Acne is a common skin condition most commonly associated with teenagers and young adults of both sexes.

However, at The Cheshire Aesthetic Clinic our experience is that older age groups are increasingly affected by the typical acne traits of congested skin, blocked pores, and skin blemishes too.

Dermapen™ Treatments

The Cheshire Aesthetic Clinic is delighted to introduce a new skin rejuvenation therapy, the DermaPen™ to our clients.

DermaPen™ prompts the natural release of the skin’s collagen and elastin for amazing anti-aging benefits, all without the need for surgery. It is the UK’s leading non-surgical skin regeneration treatment due to its effectiveness and safety.
