Massage Therapy & Hot Stone Massage
Massage involves working the soft tissue of the body, and eases day-to-day stresses and muscular tension, and promotes relaxation.
It can increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the treated areas and so can be used to support other therapies and help with the rehabilitation of muscular injuries. Before treatment, we offer a full consultation, to ensure we give the best service we need to understand about your health and lifestyle. Most full body massage treatments take approximately an hour, though a ‘back, neck and shoulder’ massage may only take between 30 to 40 minutes.
Treatments usually take place on a massage table or coach, though some may require you to sit in a chair or lay down on a futon-type mat on the floor.
If the treatment involves the therapist directly massaging your skin, a nourishing oil or cream-based product will generally be used to provide a free-flowing massage.
Whatever type of massage you are having, your therapist will advise you of what to expect before the treatment begins.
Massage is used by for a variety of reasons. Some people use it to simply relax and unwind, while others have regular massage to help them manage or cope with specific physical, mental or emotional problems.
There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that massage can be effective in helping to treat certain chronic conditions, such as fibromyalgia and low back pain.
Hot stone massage is another type of massage therapy which we offer. It’s used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body.
During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. It can help relieve muscle tension and pain, reduce stress, promote sleep and ease anxiety.
