What are crow’s feet?
Crow’s feet or laughter lines (lateral canthal lines to give them their proper name) are the wrinkles that radiate out from the corners of the eyes.
Over time, as the skin’s regenerative capability declines and the production of collagen and elastin decreases, the millions of tiny muscle contractions that occur when we smile or pull any facial expression causes the wrinkles to develop.
Some crow’s feet wrinkles are dynamic which means they appear when the facial muscles contract – for example, when we smile – and then they disappear when we stop smiling. Static crow’s feet wrinkles may deepen when the muscles contract, but they remain in place once the smile is over.
