What are thread veins?
Thread veins (telangiectasia), also known as spider veins, are superficial red, purple or blue veins often appearing around the nose and across the cheeks and chin.
They are harmless, damaged blood vessels that lie just underneath the skin’s surface and their clustered appearance is what gives them their names. The small blood vessels weaken and expand and then appear visible under the skin’s surface.
Even though they are so small and fine their proximity to the surface makes them quite noticeable and while occasionally, especially in the legs, thread veins can cause some itching or discomfort it is usually their appearance that causes dissatisfaction or distress
They affect around half of women and as long-term pressure placed on these tiny capillaries they become more and more visible. Inevitably, the appearance of thread veins increases over time.
Although the appearance of thread veins can be hereditary or connected to sun and wind damage, extremes of temperature, other skin conditions, or the ageing process, thread veins can be effectively, easily, and quickly be removed using Intense Pulse Light (IPL) thread vein treatments.

IPL Thread Vein Treatments
The Cheshire Aesthetic Clinic’s IPL laser system emits light which is absorbed by the blood vessels, heating them to the point where they are destroyed. The vessels then quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving hardly a trace or no trace of the original lesion.
